Structure & Organization

Exploring the concept of framing was very useful. This LED talk was another enjoyable way to discuss the ideas that we are learning about. My organization faces many operational problems that were around 30 years ago, but the operational environment is constantly changing, and reframing problems gives us new perspectives and drives innovative solutions. Due to the nature of my work, I tend to utilize hybrid of political/structural framing. Their is an old expression, “to a hammer, everything is a nail”. This course reminded me that successful leaders operate in a multi-frame mindset.

Reframing Administration

This Action Plan for Change seems very relevant to today’s world. These are tumultuous times and organizations and their people are in a perpetual change cycle. At the personal level, the material in this course came at the perfect time to assist me in my current organization. We are at the beginning of a 3 year cycle of force design updates that impact more than 5000 service members. Unit structure is totally changing for these people, many of whom have been in their field for a decade or more. This stress on the personnel and the organization as a whole is a serious challenge that would be even more difficult to navigate without these tools.

Strategic Planning and Fiscal Management

So much of the work for this course was useful in my current position. This presentation became the foundation for a much larger project I developed at TMD. The tools I gained as I worked through the program make my ability to produce clear, concise analysis and plans much greater than it was when I began this journey.

Organizational Supervision

Effective leadership communication is essential for shaping organizational culture and achieving organizational success. Leaders who build trust through transparency, active listening, empathy, and inspiring vision create a work environment where employees are engaged, motivated, and empowered to lead the organization to success.

I used this presentation and others I produced for this Master’s program as teaching aids in our Leadership Professional Development program.
